Popular and long time goalie for the Albion Old Boys FC and the Tokyo Hibs/Irish FC, Tommy Haeussler after 11 years in Japan is heading back to his home country, Germany to take up a work appointment in Hamburg. Below is a message to all Tommy's friends after all had a rip-roaring dance night to celebrate one of the nicest blokes you could meet. Many thanks Tom for your friendship and commitment to the teams over those years.
From Tommy
Hi all,
Thanks to all of you who came out on Saturday to see me off and sorry I didn't manage to speak to you all. Thanks Neil also for the champagne at Paddy's - very generous. I had a ball and a very sore head the next day to remind me of the fun and the fact that this was an old boys team and that I am not one of the younger members after all. Ah, well, even having fun comes at an ever increasing price these days - fuck inflation!
To all of you, I had a great time in Tokyo for the last just over 11 years and playing football with you and some others along the way contributed massively to that. I have been playing with some of you for all these 11 years and others more recently and I shall miss the football here and everything that went with it. Football is a great game anywhere but I think the international teams here in Tokyo are special and make it yet more fun - keep it up boys! I am not sure how much more football I will play once back in Germany with my body telling me to stop but as Terry pointed out in his last match report we are justy to din to know when to stop si chances are I will keep ignoring the hints and look for another team.
Since the other two thirds of my family are Japanese I will be back in Japan every now and then and I do hope I will see you again then and maybe even get a half a game if things fit. Or else if anyone of you is ever in Germany close enough to Hamburg, there is always a place to crash there so please do get in touch and visit.
I will send an update and new contact details once I am settled back in Hamburg. But through my private gmail email account will always get to me at any rate.
Good luck to you all, I had a blast.
Tommy
